The Design-Build team for the new $110M, 100,000 sq. ft. UC Davis Health Folsom Medical Office Building will share how they've successfully used VR throughout the design process to create understanding and alignment between the client and the Design-Build team. With key stakeholders gathered in the same virtual space, the team has been able to collaboratively create live markups within the 3D model, providing stakeholders with a tangible understanding of the built environment and allowing the GC team to evaluate the design to identify potential constructability concerns, proposed changes and greater efficiencies. This presentation will share the process the Design-Build team used to implement regular VR design walk-throughs, incorporate this practice into OAC and Big Room meetings, and create a "VR road show," during which the team brought the VR setup on site to medical practices for providers to review and provide sign-off on the design. By utilizing the strengths of a virtual environment, the team has created excitement for the project among staff, fostered confidence and buy-in with the client, and identified potential construction issues before they occurred.
