DBIA-NYC Metro Region - The NextGen is at the Hudson Tunnel Project (March 25, 2026)

  • Registration Closed

Hudson Tunnel Project, one of the most significant infrastructure initiatives currently underway in the United States. This event will highlight the Manhattan Tunnel Project, a major component of the Gateway Program that is being delivered using the Design-Build project delivery method, offering a real-world example of how collaborative delivery models are applied on complex megaprojects.

The Hudson Tunnel Project is a critical effort to expand and modernize rail capacity between New Jersey and New York while enhancing reliability for the hundreds of thousands of passengers who rely on the Northeast Corridor each day. As part of this program, the Manhattan Tunnel Project represents a landmark Design-Build undertaking that brings together owners, designers, contractors, and advisors to work within an integrated delivery framework aligned with DBIA Best Practices.

During this session, industry professionals involved in the project will share insights into the development and delivery of the Manhattan Tunnel Project, including procurement strategies, risk allocation, and the collaborative processes that define successful Design-Build projects. The discussion will also explore how integrated teams apply DBIA principles such as early collaboration, clear risk allocation, and transparent communication to manage the technical and logistical challenges of constructing new rail tunnels beneath the Hudson River in one of the most densely built urban environments in the country.

Participants will gain valuable perspective on how Design-Build delivery is used to accelerate schedules, manage complex risks, and foster innovation on large-scale infrastructure projects. The conversation will also highlight the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration across multiple agencies, technical disciplines, and industry stakeholders.

By connecting students and emerging professionals with practitioners working directly on this transformative infrastructure project, NextGen at the Hudson Tunnel Project aims to provide meaningful insight into the leadership, collaboration, and innovation required to deliver the next generation of major transportation infrastructure
