In February 2022, the City of Bend, Ore., issued a Progressive Design-Build (PDB) RFP to design and construct a new site and public works campus in what is anticipated to be its first vertical and one of its largest Design-Build projects. The campus will consolidate five municipal departments onto a new 35.5-acre site. The city selected PDB with an eye toward maximizing efficiency, collaboration and creativity, while bringing the greatest value to citizens. This presentation will explore the importance of building and maintaining a collaborative, diverse, healthy team culture within PDB, and how it can be the key to achieving the highest level of performance and value for the project. Topics will include the team formation process, onboarding, and team successes as well as challenges faced, how they get resolved, and the continual care required to maintain a successful team.
