How can an industrial building on a contaminated site with poor soil structure be environmentally sensitive? At 30,000 SF, the new Accretech manufacturing facility could have been another steel and concrete building sitting amidst a sea of asphalt. However, the Owner's vision and goals were transformed using a reimagined, adaptable process. Starting with deep listening and analysis, the design-build team helped the client find answers to challenging questions: Can we reimagine what industry should be in a new context and its role in the natural environment? Can industrial buildings be exciting? Can they reflect history and point toward a better future? The project challenged us to develop tools to create a framework to effectively support the design-build process on a smaller project as it has been proven on large projects. From co-locating to collaboration; our design-build team and MEP subs partnered with the Energy Trust of Oregon to reimagine what industry should be and transform its role in the natural environment. In this session, we will share the details of how we achieved process improvements that you can apply to any integrated delivery project, regardless of type, size or location.
