Leadership is essentially a linguistic phenomenon. Therefore, communication is the single most powerful tool that you have at your disposal when it comes to leading effectively. In this session, we will explore the various distinctions of communication from three perspectives:

- The human perspective or what gets in the way of people communicating in the first place
- The technical perspective which deals with the fundamental skills of talking and listening
- The spiritual perspective which considers the purposeful and authentic intentions behind our communications

Barbara Jackson is a leading expert in design-build and integrated project leadership. Jackson spent 20 years in the design and construction industry and served as President of Design/Build Services Inc. before becoming a leading educator of Design-Build at Cal Poly (1998-2013) and the University of Denver (2013-2022). Jackson was honored with DBIA’s prestigious Brunelleschi Lifetime Achievement Award and recognized as a DBIA Fellow by the Institute 2018. She’s also the author of Design-Build Essentials.
