This presentation will discuss Right of Way Acquisition for design build projects, including aligning project schedule and cost risk. The presentation will highlight a number of variables that impact Right of Way acquisition decisions and costs. Some brief case studies and lessons learned will also be shared.

Shannon graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and has over 23 years of experience in transportation project delivery including preconstruction, project procurement, materials, construction oversight, right of way acquisition and utility relocation.  Shannon joined S&ME with 20 years’ experience with NCDOT, where he held a variety of positions.  Shannon has been engaged in alternative project delivery, such as Design-Build and P3, for 15 years.   Shannon is active in DBIA serving on the Transportation Committee and Education Subcommittee.  He is also involved with the Transportation Research Board serving on the Construction Management and Concrete Pavement Construction Committees and participating as a Panel member on several NCHRP research projects.
